RubyWell is the first company to tackle the care crisis by easing the financial strain on family caregivers.
We’re doing this by building a platform that continuously discovers and delivers opportunities to save, find, and earn money for the care you provide.
We know what we’re up against
Over 37 million Americans are caring for an aging loved one.
On average, the care they provide consumes about 25 hours of their week.
Family caregivers spend 26% of their income on providing care if they’re white; up to 47% if they’re people of color.
40% of family caregivers have to leave their jobs to provide care.
The costs of caring are depleting their loved ones’ savings and their own.
1 in 6 non-caregivers expect to become caregivers within 2 years.
The Forgotten Middle
Wealthy people can afford to cover long term care expenses as they age. Government-funded programs provide long term care to people near the poverty level. What if you're in between?
What if income and assets are over the Medicaid limit?
Your state Medicaid program may pay some family caregivers to provide care, but only after the person you care for spends down almost all of their income and assets on healthcare.
What if you're caring for your spouse?
Most Medicaid waivers and some VA programs that pay family caregivers don't pay spouses to provide the covered care.
What if you can't take advantage of tax credits?
Most caregiver tax credits require you to claim the person you care for as a dependent. So they must have a gross income of no more than $4,700.
