Become a

paid

family caregiver

Caring for a loved one shouldn’t mean straining your finances. RubyWell helps you get the support and compensation you need to care for both your family and your financial future.

For family caregivers who have had to miss work or leave their job to care for a loved one

For aging adults who “have too much money” to qualify for needs-based programs but not enough to make ends meet

For family caregivers who could use financial support to provide a safe and comfortable home for their loved one

For family caregivers who want to honor the wishes of their loved ones by allowing them to age at home

RubyWell helps family caregivers get paid

For eligible families, this is how RubyWell works:

Determine eligibility

If the person you care for is eligible for home health benefits through their insurance, RubyWell refers them to one of our local home health agency partners who will develop a care plan.

1

Get certified

Meanwhile, we connect you with access to home health aide certification training. On average, caregivers complete this course in six weeks.

2

Get hired and paid

Once you’ve earned your certification, the home health agency partner may hire you as a certified home health aide to care for your loved one, at the going pay rate for your area.

3

Well of Resources

Our library of thoughtful articles and guides can help you navigate your financial journey through caregiving.

Family Caregiver FAQs

I’m caring for a spouse. Does that disqualify me?

For eligible families, RubyWell can help any help any family caregiver get paid, including a spouse or even a friend. The caregiver must be at least 18 years old, legally allowed to work in the U.S., and pass background and drug tests to be eligible for the RubyWell program.

What is required of me if I join RubyWell?

If you qualify for our program, we'll connect you with access to a combination of online and in-person training. When you compete the training and pass a test to become a Medicare-certified Home Health Aide or CNA (depending on your state's requirements) one of our home health agency partners may hire you to provide care.

Does the person I care for have to spend down most of their assets to qualify for RubyWell?

RubyWell is not a needs-based program, like Medicaid. So we don't require care recipients to meet any income or asset limits. If your family qualifies for RubyWell, the person you care for can hold on to what they've got.

Would the money I make from this program be taxable income?

Yes, any money you earn as a certified home health aide or CNA with one of our home health agency partners is taxable.
